MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID COURSE

In any 1 year 1 in 4 adults will suffer some form of mental distress. Mental Health First Aid is a 2-day  intensive certificated course which:

·         Provides a greater awareness of mental health issues.

·         Helps participants to recognise those affected by mental health problems.

·         Helps participants to react sensitively and be able to offer initial support and guidance towards professional support and recovery.

·         Tackles prejudice and helps participants to improve their performance in dealing with vulnerable members of the public.

 Cost £95 per person includes course handbook and materials, lunch on both days and a certificate for all participants who complete the course.

 Course dates:  22nd & 23rd June    or

                          13th & 14th September

Are you aware of exactly what your human rights are?  Well now there’s an easy way to get well-informed.  RECC has a leaflet available that explains your Human Rights in simple terms.  The leaflet is available in English, French, Mandarin, Polish, Russian, Somali, Tamil, Turkish and Urdu and is available free of charge from RECC.

INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY EVENT A SUCCESS

 RECC and our partners in the East Side Consortium organised an event for International Womens Day which was held in Redbridge and  enjoyed by all those who attended – forty-three women in all throughout the day.  The next event will be held in Waltham Forest and will be about violence against women and female children.  Let us know if you would like to get involved.

                                                                                                          EAST SIDE CONSORTIUM

RECC has now formed a consortium with Waltham Forest Race Equality  Council and Barking & Dagenham Racial Equality Council to work on two projects funded by the Equalities & Human Rights Commission. 

One project has already produced the leaflet on Equalities & Human Rights mentioned overleaf and we are now in the process of organising a debate for schools, a training event for local employers and training in Human Rights for voluntary groups.  If you would like to know more or want to get involved, please contact us for more information. 

We also have speakers on Equality & Human Rights and the work of RECC who we can send to YOUR organisation.
